The goal is to make a concept of an Anne of Green Gables cover that would stand out from the numerous other amazing covers it’s had since its publication more than 100 years ago.
Role: Illustration, Design
I wanted the image to be a specific moment in the story and decided on Anne beholding Green Gables for the first time, the moment we know her life will be forever changed. Instead of the familiar farmhouse, I shifted the focus to Anne. The extreme closeup choice is partly inspired by Martin Schoeller’s portraits, where spectators are invited to closely examine the subjects, who are often famous international icons. In doing so, my intention is to present Anne, her story, and her impact, as an icon in her own right.
